Cruise Port Overview
Alicante is one of the Mediterranean’s easiest city-centre cruise calls when your ship uses Alicante Passenger Terminal at Molo dei Bersaglieri. Alicante Old Town and the historic waterfront are immediately beside the terminal. Always confirm the actual berth, because alternative port berths can require a transfer.

Ships dock at the modern Levante Quay (Muelle de Levante), which features a dedicated cruise terminal facility offering passenger lounges, tourist information, and gift shops. Stepping off the pier puts you directly next to the famous Explanada de España promenade, lined with cafes, gelaterias, seaside shops, and vibrant plazas. Official taxis are stationed right outside the terminal gate.
Getting to Alicante
Can you walk? Yes, absolutely. The cruise pier is located right next to the city center and waterfront, making it a very short, flat 5 to 10-minute walk (about 0.4 miles) from the ship gangway out to the main palm-lined marina esplanade.
Shuttle Bus: Because the ship berths practically at the edge of town, mandatory internal port shuttle buses are generally not required or operated for city transit.
History of Alicante
Inhabited for over 7,000 years, the site saw early settlements by Iberians, Carthaginians (who fortified the city under General Hamilcar Barca as Akra Leuke), and Romans, who called it Lucentum. During the Middle Ages, it fell under Moorish rule for centuries until it was recaptured by the Crown of Castile in the 13th century, transforming it into a vital Mediterranean trading port defended by the massive mountaintop Castle of Santa Bárbara.
