Cannes is one of the Mediterranean’s easiest city-centre cruise calls when your ship uses Vieux Port tender landing at Molo dei Bersaglieri. Le Suquet and the historic waterfront are immediately beside the terminal. Always confirm the actual berth, because alternative port berths can require a transfer.

Getting to Cannes Town
Can you walk? Yes, absolutely. The tender pier deposits you directly at the edge of the downtown harbor area, allowing you to walk right into the city instantly. Shuttle Bus: Because the port sits steps from the center of town, mandatory internal port shuttle buses are not operated for city transit.
History of Cannes
Originating as a modest Ligurian fishing settlement and ancient Roman trading post, Cannes spent much of the Middle Ages under the control of monks from the nearby Lérins Islands who built defensive towers against pirates. It remained a quiet fishing and agricultural village until the early 19th century, when British aristocrats (led by Lord Brougham) "discovered" its mild winter climate and built grand luxury estates. The launch of the world-famous Cannes Film Festival in 1946 cemented its status as an international symbol of cinematic glamour and luxury.
What to visit
Le Suquet (Old Town): The historic medieval hilltop quarter towering right over the western side of the port, featuring narrow cobblestone staircases, old ramparts, and the 12th-century Castre Museum. Palais des Festivals et des Congrès: The iconic modern venue hosting the annual film festival, where you can walk up the famous red-carpeted steps and view the handprints of movie legends (Chemin des Étoiles). Boulevard de la Croisette: A stunning two-mile palm-fringed waterfront promenade lined with sandy public/private beaches, upscale designer boutiques, and historic grand hotels like the Carlton. Marché Forville: A vibrant local indoor food market located a short walk from the port, packed with fresh Provençal cheeses, flowers, and regional delicacies.

Cannes is already a major attraction in its own right but if you travel further afield it's recommended your port stay is long and/or you are on an organised excursion with a protected return plan. Antibes: Just 15 minutes away by train, featuring a historic old town, massive 16th-century rampart walls, and the Picasso Museum housed in Château Grimaldi. Nice: Located 40 minutes east by train, offering the sweeping Promenade des Anglais, the vibrant Old Town (Vieille Ville), and hilltop castle park views. Monaco & Monte Carlo: Roughly an hour away by direct rail, famous for the Prince's Palace, the Casino Square, and sweeping harbor views.

Reaching Further afield via Public Transport & Tours: Public Transport (Regional Trains): From the Gare de Cannes station, catch frequent regional TER trains. You can reach Antibes in 15 minutes, Nice in 40 minutes, or Monaco in about 1 hour without any prior reservations. How do you get to the train station?: Gare de Cannes (the main railway station) is located roughly 1.2 kilometers (a flat, straightforward 20-minute walk north) from the tender dock. To walk there, head north from the port up through the central shopping streets or Rue d'Antibes directly to the station.
